  • completing documents, creating plans and documentation with the training received for competent people to sign and authorize to other who are going to carry out work

  • RAMS, WPPs, PTD/PTL: documentation that requires competent trained peopl to authorize these action. health and safety requires every ones attention and is very important in construction

  • i enjoy this alot as i always like building and the construction industry as a whole

  • i feel very privileged to join costain and i do feel valued by the company as a whole

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • i value the fact that im in and apprenticeship programme especially with a great company like costain however the same cannot be said about my programme provider Citb the teaching from teacher their is poor and don't engage with the subject to actually @teach they just put up slides also they say i am meant to research everything in my assignments hence why they shouldn't teach which makes me believe that going to class is for no reason

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • the amount of support i was told i am suppose to get is no where near of what i'm actually getting, i am also told by teachers that they are not suppose to teach me and i am suppose to research my whole units and assignments without plagiarizing the source or even to understand the unit fully without any guidance

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • it depends what type of support, support for training none, as i don't really take up my concerns with training at work i take up my concern of training at training, however with work i received some, enough to be called the bare minimum, i haven't any information regarding how to complete specific forms

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • i am very please with my package and i am grateful i am working with a company like costain as i said overall the company is great however each project is different so each enviroment will be ok or not ok.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • i believe so this is since costain are involved in many projects involving different companies, therefore creating a link. for example London underground or sanska work with costain if i feel like i want to move then i could move to skanska since they are on a joint venture project at bond street and involved in the same inductry as costain or become a train driver as i understand procedures and protocols when at costain

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • they look after their employees, give good packages for people, you can choose an educational route to build up your expertise, and costain are always looking to build up knowledge to use at a latter date


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Costain?
  • along with good qualifications and grades also be human, interact with the company ask questions if getting interviewed and always get some work or employment experience as this shows the interviewer you are keen to work and gain a future
