  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Very much enjoyed the programme. My team is very friendly, the work is interesting, the company is very friendly, I get on well with the other trainees and there is a lot of opportunity to learn. It went beyond my expectations.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Schroders?
  • You immediately become part of a team- and you are not treated as a trainee but a member of the team. My Manager and team are also very enthusiastic and keen to invest time into my development.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised. Initial two days induction to the trainee programme where you meet the other trainees, learn more about the company and complete team building exercises. Throughout the programme, we completed training and qualifications, we were given a buddy each and our managers organised weekly catch-ups with us.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As this is a school leaver programme, the support is through the Schroders' HR team. The HR team are very friendly and you are not afraid to ask any questions. The induction and training provided was very useful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Again, the support is received directly from Schroders. Cannot fault the support and guidance provided. Managers are friendly and keen to support- and structure of buddy system has been carefully thought out.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary was very much a basic trainee fee- and if you are travelling in from outside of London it is very expensive. However, the trainee programme did provide many other opportunities and so it was reasonable.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Many opportunities are available outside of work. There are many different sports and social events throughout the year. I am involved with the netball team, have joined the gym, been bowling, dragon boat racing. The trainee programme is also part of investment 2020 and so the I2020 events provide you with the opportunity to meet and network with trainees from other I2020 firms.

  • 9. Would you recommend Schroders to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There is a great atmosphere at Schroders- and many opportunities available. The focus on development is fantastic- which not only develops your skill set but also employability.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schroders?
  • My application process consisted of online interview questions, a video interview and a face to face interview with my manager. I would suggest you are enthusiastic in your interview and provide examples of past experience (whether from School or work experience). I think you also need to treat the programme as an opportunity- as it is great to get a year at a top investment company on your CV.
