  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • 31 trainees joined in August2015. All 31 of us have different roles. Tasks can vary per team. Daily, I run reports and carry out specific BAU tasks. I interact with different internal teams daily and attend external meetings at least once a month. The projects you are involved with vary on business changes but if you are proactive in seeking opportunities they will always come to you

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Currently studying for the claritas exam which we will take in May 2016. Internally there are training sessions provided by HR, externally we have training from other providers and the Investment2020 scheme which Schroder's is a part of. There is always an opportunity to further your knowledge and extend your skills at the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely structured and organised. We are inducted together as a group on our first 2 days where they go through all HR procedures and talk about the company. We have training pretty much every month including personal effectiveness to impact&influence and compliance&risk. We are studying towards our Claritas exam and get given a couple of intense training days on this. We also have a mentor who is a trainee from last year - mine proactively meets with my for lunch/coffee every month.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • London in an expensive city to live in. For a school leaver programme, the salary is competitive. (rated 7 because you always want more of a salary)

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • In my experience Schroder's is a very social company. Of course there's the Christmas party that was held at the Grosvenor hotel this year. There's also a social committee that organise multiple events every month ranging from wine tasting, to ice skating, to nights out, to cultural art shows. Also, there is always an email/notification circulating in regards to a charity event to promote corporate awareness. At the moment - there are bins on each floor to donate clothes/items for Cancer research. There is the free gym and classes even including yoga and Pilates.

  • 9. Would you recommend Schroders to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Schroder's is a great company with an abundance of benefits. The school leaver scheme provides a foot in the door to the investment industry.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schroders?
  • If anything at least try. The application process is pretty simple... online questions, online interview and a interview in person against others. Be confident, be yourself and do the research. Make sure you always have an example of when you have showed a skill. Make the most of it.
