Trainee - Regualatory Operations Review

I am currently working in regulatory operations at Schroders Asset Management, my role consists of reporting trades to both ESMA,ASIC,MAS and the FCA on a day-to-day basis.

During my time here at Schroders it has enabled to me develop my knowledge of the world of asset management, learning about different asset classes and trade strategies. Schroders has also been excellent in giving us all an opportunity to attend both internal and external training courses in which I feel has developed my confidence in handling situations and also helped me adapt to the professional workplace environment.

There are many things that I enjoy here at Schroders, not only is this such a rare opportunity to develop my knowledge and obtain hands-on experience in the finance industry, but it has also given me the chance to meet new people and make key contacts to help with the future of my career

Schroders effort in both a personal and professional manner is outstanding, the time they put aside to invest in their trainees really makes me feel like I'm part of something. At all levels Schroders provides effort and consistency in helping us develop into well-rounded professionals.

The support you receive at the start of your programme continues throughout your programme all the way until the end, you are constantly encouraged to attend courses throughout and there brilliant communication with all employees makes you feel comfortable straight away. I felt incredibly at easy when I joined my team and quickly knew my what my tasks were.

During my time here the support is extremely effective, they're are numerous opportunities that allow you to converse with your tutor, develop your goals and objectives and talk about how you'd like to achieve these. Schroders also give excellent training so you can achieve these goals more effectively and efficiently

I have thoroughly enjoyed the amount of support Schroders has given me at all levels on this programme, the HR team is great, and by developing a close relationship with your manager you can actively receive support on a day-to-day basis.

I personally feel that the salary we receive is extremely generous and is sufficient enough to cover all my living costs, the package is also generous with a free gym membership and private healthcare being included.

Defiantly, our training provider (i2020) actively compose social events that give you a chance to meet other trainees from similar companies, this is invaluable for developing contacts and meeting people with similar interests.

No matter what your intention is from the programme, whether you intend to pursue a career in finance or use it as work experience before uni, the programme provides you with a life-time set of skills that you can build on and apply in all aspects of you life.

I'd recommend applying with the intention to make the most out of the programme, it's an excellent time to develop contacts and learn from first-hand experience invaluable knowledge. I'd also not be put off if asset management is completely new to you as this is something you'll along the way and hopefully develop an interest during your time here.
