I worked in client service for insurance clients. On a day to day basis this involved sourcing and producing client reports and distributing these to the clients. It also involved regular client meetings to monitor and improve our client relationships.
Schroders provided a large amount of support and training. As part of the programme we completed the Claritas qualification. We were also provided with plenty of internal training courses including: impact and influence; personal effectiveness; effective business writing and time management
I felt immediately welcomed in my team and easily formed a good social relationship with the others on the programme. Schroders as a company is happy to support you in any way they can and regularly put on social and cultural events for the employees.
Once I had been inducted I felt valued by my team and that I was making a difference to the company. Throughout the programme I was given increasing levels of responsibility as my knowledge and confidence improved
The programme is well structured with a group induction at the start and several training days through the first few months. I had regular catch ups with my line manager to give appraisals and to discuss how I could improve in the future.
All our training sessions were helpful and informative and the trainers were always available to contact afterwards if you needed any guidance.
My team was happy to give me support and to explain anything that I didn't understand. I could always chat across the desk with my manager if I needed anything and I had regular private catch ups with my manager if I wanted to raise anything in a one to one meeting.
Working in London naturally brings a lot of costs. I had a large travel bill every month as I lived quite far out and going out for drinks after work can be very expensive. However the salary provided by Schroders was very generous considering other opportunities available and the training provided. On top of all my costs I was managing to save a large amount every month.
Living and working in and around London there are always plenty of things to do whether these are organised by the company or done in your spare time. As long as you're willing

Schroders is a large but extremely welcoming company. In this programme they provide a huge amount of support and training. Schroders has a very good reputation as a company and so even if you decide that a full time position here isn't for you it is a fantastic name to have on your CV.
In your interview all you need to show is that you are enthusiastic and that you are really going to make the most of the opportunity on offer. As this is a school leaver programme Schroders just want to be confident in you as a person and they understand that most people will not have much experience in the industry at this point.
