1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
At Fidelity I am an Apprentice Business Analyst, my role is to help gather stakeholder requirements for projects, making sure that everyone agrees to the importance of the requirements and to follow the project making sure that everything is followed and to assist in anyway.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I think that the Fidelity apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic opportunity to get into the business world, you gather great skills through training and mentoring, you also gather tremendous amounts of confidence through support and guidance. The best thing about the apprenticeship is that it you are constantly pushing your limits and trying to use and improve your skills to the maximum.
4. How valued do you feel by Fidelity International?
At Fidelity I feel that everyone is treated the same, I feel that people approach me the same way in which they would approach other colleagues. Fidelity is a community where everyone will fit in and everyone will be welcome.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
The Apprenticeship program is fairly well set up and structures, the interview process and hiring process was very thorough however when starting the apprenticeship the work load feels a little slow however when your training begins it slowly picks up, one thing I would like to see more is more help and guidance for apprentices who haven't had to conduct a project before or be involved in a project before so that they know what they are going and don't feel lost.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
I am provided with a lot of training to help me develop my skills, the training providers are good at teaching you the skills you need to know, training is usually 2 week bursts.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
everyone is also very supportive in making you feel comfortable with something or if you need help they will be there to help out with. However I do feel that when being placed on your first project you should be guided along the way so you know what is expected of you and you don't feel lost and panicked.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
The salary at Fidelity for an Apprentice is extremely good for an apprenticeship, also there is an expenses system so if you have to travel for a business purpose then fidelity will refund you the money back if it has come out of your own pocket.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
There are lots of activities that are done outside of work hours, there are 6 a side football league teams, there are runners, cyclers, people who do exercise drills outside. There is even a choir that normally perform a Christmas concert.
9a. Would you recommend Fidelity International to a friend? *
9b. Why? *
Because it is an extremely good opportunity to get into the business world, also it gives you an extremely good chance to develop your skills and offers many opportunities throughout your time here.
10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International? *
The interview process is very intense and can make you nervous however once you have been through the process you will reap the reward. There is so much that Fidelity can do for you, it can also offer you amazing opportunities such as traveling to different countries to work with other Fidelity teams. This is one of, if not the best apprenticeship opportunity you will find coming into the business world.
