I am a sales associate at Harrods currently in the sports department. My daily tasks include setting up the shop floor in the morning ready for trading, organising the stock rooms, serving customers and helping close the store at the end of the day.
During my time at Harrods I have learnt so many new things about myself. The training courses provided have helped me become more confident in my selling ability, and the experience working in the sports department has helped me learn all about how the world of retail works, it has been a valuable experience.
I have really enjoyed the programme so far, the team I have are brilliant and have been extremely helpful. I have met some amazing people so far, I didn't know what to expect at first but so far I am really pleased with this course.
So far I have tried to get involved in as much as possible to make the most of my time here and I have made good progress. At times I have felt really encouraged and have had really positive feedback, but I feel management could be more positive with the team at times. Overall though this programme looks upon us with great excitement seeing us as having real potential with is extremely encouraging.
The programme is well organised and structured with our training courses all set out in advance so we know what to expect. Obviously Harrods is a huge business and a lot goes on so sometimes things can be disorganised but overall I like how it is run.
The team running the programme are really nice and we have the opportunity to organise meetings with them if we have any questions or problems which helps us feel encouraged.
I receive a good level of support from management and Harrods staff in general, they are very helpful with anything I ask them about and they look highly on the programme.
It meets my costs well, I applied for a travel card through Harrods which was very useful, living with family means I can save a good amount however if I was living alone it would be much harder.
There are a few opportunities such as social events with the team and the Harrods Christmas ball which was amazing, however nothing on a regular basis.
Yes
It`s a great opportunity to gain some real working experience in one of the best retail stores in the world.
I would say if you love interacting and meeting new people everyday its a great experience. For the interviews they are looking for genuine personable people who have a passion for selling so don't try and be someone you are not.
