  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have been given the opportunity to work alongside professionals who are skilled in their roles. It fast tracks your education as you are doing the work they're doing and learning all of the time.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. The greatest skill I've developed is working within a team, understanding the industry and various technologies. It's great to see first hand how a global business operates and I hope to develop this skill further in the future.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The best part about the programme is studying towards a degree. We get a day release which breaks up the work week and splits the study into manageable chucks. This gives plenty of time for reassessment and consolidation of knowledge.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The first four weeks we had our induction to the company. We were guided through the various technologies such as Java, SQL, C, shell programming and interacting with the Unix file system. Talks were also given to introduce us to the various businesses that Accenture takes part in.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Support is an email away as well as support given in person when we get day release. Tutors at the college want you do well and we receive more support than in a usual classroom setting as the group is quite small. So our teaching at times can be one-to-one.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is given as needed. If you need help it is provided but you need to be proactive. Support can come in the form of career counselling or general counselling. Educational support can also be given by people who you work with on a daily basis.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The first year was very tight and competitors offer larger starting wages. This reflects the work expected in your first year within the company as you are not expected too much but apprentices are expected to show development.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We are given a gym subsidiary and work often schedules nights out which are free. Its a great to get to know people outside of the office. On top of this the apprenticeship also schedules meals that celebrate our success.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
