1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
My roles vary by placement (we move locations once every 6 months, during the first 2 years), but most placements are finance related. You get to interact and contribute within a corporate environment and apply the skills that you gain from your studies.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
As a part of the scheme, you are required to complete a Management Accounting qualification. The courses for this qualification provide a lot of insight and practical skills related to you in office work. You are also enrolled on a number of excel and professional skills based courses.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
The programme is very rewarding, be it through the pay incentives for completing your qualifications or the social interaction with your fellow colleagues. I am very satisfied with the scheme.
4. How valued do you feel by Siemens?
From placement to placement, your responsibilities may vary but you are always appreciated for the work you do. You may have the opportunity to be involved in new projects or have new responsibilities given to you, if you show that you are competent enough.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
The programme is very well organized and allows for you to approach the qualification as it suits you. Depending on your placements, you may be working with teams of varying sizes. So team support can vary but you should always have something to get on with and some way to improve your skill set.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
The training provider provides optional study days and occasionally sends a dedicated tutor to one of the sites, in order to answer questions and offer study assistance.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
The support team is very good, they are always happy to help out if you have any queries or issues. They also provide good feedback on how you are progressing and will let you know if you need to improve in some areas.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
Depending on how well you budget, your salary should easily cover your living costs. The expense compensation we receive is very generous, any travel and or meals when off site are covered. There is also a re-location allowance for when you move to your first site away from home.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
There are multiple out of work opportunities, from a company football team to an on site choir group. There are many more available, you have but to look.
