  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working with the design team for onshore substations. Completing drawings and calculations to work out how to plan and fit to customer needs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Managing work loads and CAD along with 3D design. Working closely with the team I have been able to put to practice what i learnt into documents received by customers and contractors.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would sometimes like to be a bit more practical to tie in knowledge learnt at a desk. If this was possible then it would help give my knowledge more depth and understanding.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Siemens?
  • I feel quite highly regarded as they formally presented us our certificates in front of the whole of the company. They also have spent a lot of money on our education as a whole.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At first as we were the 'guinea pigs' the programme wasn't run very well but as the years progressed and the company listening to our needs they have worked with us to help create a better opportunity within the company.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I never had to contact my training provider as there was always guidance in the company and our overall mentor who would contact the providers for us, letting us know how or what we need to do.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support comes in abundance there is never a moment when you feel alone. This type of support is very helpful when trying to undergo tasks that you might find challenging.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • At the beginning the salary was quite low but has seen a good rise as we progressed.

  • Not considered.

  • Do some back ground checks into the line of business you are applying for as there are many types of business within this company.
