  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of being a sales associate within Harrods and attending training courses for 18 month period and moving around the business in three different departments for 6 month duration.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely learnt new skills throughout my programme and developed on my self confidence and skills I haven't had exposure too before. The training sessions allowed me to gain knowledge in different fields which I wouldn't of had access to before. E.G Multi-cultural awareness.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Being my first full time job and being more independent.Being able to work in a team and have collegues which you can enjoy working with and be friends with also. Making friends that are from different countries and cultures which I haven't had exposure too before.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Harrods?
  • Harrods is a generous company that gives employees many benefits and being on the programme I have had a lot of exposure to the business as a whole. I am valued by many different job roles within the business.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I had a very indepth induction and training session when I first started. The support I have received is overwhelming and being able to have the opportunity to support managers and have regular meetings in different fields to again gain more exposure to the business as a whole. The programme was well organised until more towards the end when everyone was dispersing into roles they suited best.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The support I receive is very good and there is always a helping hand there if you need anything. Mentors are available across the business and really enthusias the attitude of being positive and always there to support. All levels of the business are willing to support with anything you would need.

  • Managers are very willing to give support in all aspects of my job role, on and off the shopfloor.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I can accommodate all my outgoings with my salary.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes there are numerous work events which I can attend including director breakfast and business updates. A lot of sport and leisure clubs available and always the opportunity to join in with a charity event.

  • Yes

  • The amount of oppourtunities the business can give you and the exposure you have to many different aspects of harrods.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Harrods?
  • Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Many presentations and important meetings occur which have to have organisation for. Take as much advice on board as possible and jump at every opportunity you are given.
