My role as a sales associate involves a wide variety of things. A typical week involves serving customers on the shop floor, dealing with customer requests, attending programme trainings and meeting with the programme stakeholders.
I have learnt so many new skills through being on the shop floor and also in a learning environment through the training sessions. I have developed a lot as a person thanks to these internal and external sessions that we have been having weekly.
I enjoy the programme very much as not only do we learn so much about the retail business but also we have networked with a huge amount of people from all areas of the business which helps a lot with career development.
I feel very valued by harrods as we get to meet many Harrods stakeholders that are high up in the business which makes us feel like our experiences and our programme is important to the business.
The Programme is well structured and very organised to a certain extent. We changed course leaders twice, however I didn't feel the transition was bumpy and we were always comfortable that we were being looked after.
We receive a huge amount of support from our training provider. She is always present at our training sessions, we have monthly individual catch ups with her and we are always encouraged to send her an email if there is anything work related we would like to discuss.
From our managers, GSM's and Programme leaders we are always encouraged to investigate as many different job roles as we like. there is no pressure to fall into a certain job role, only support with choosing from your different options.
My salary meets my costs well. we never have to spend any money on the Programme apart from travel to work and our salary benefits from commission and is the same as sales associates who are not on the programme, so is fair.
We have a good selection of opportunities that the company provide such as fitness classes you can sign up to which take place nearby, the Harrods Christmas Ball and training days out with your team. We also have discounts at lots of participating restaurants and gyms for being Harrods members of staff.
Yes
I would recommend the Harrods Retail Academy because you will be trained by the best retailers and be a team member at the most successful department store in the world. The job opportunities you have being part of this programme are endless.
I would say take note and listen to every single person who you meet because you never know when you might need their help or opinion on something. Also, seize every opportunity that arises and ask to do things and take responsibilities to push you more.
