Apprentice Design Engineer Review

Designing signaling systems for an operational railway, allowing the signaler to control the movement of trains. Apprentice design engineer. Struggle to get work most days due to complexity of work and all beginners work being sent out to India.

It is enjoyable when you receive work however it can be very frustrating when you don't have any work to complete.

You sometimes gain appreciation, however there isn't much of this nor do they let you know how they feel about you or if you are looking to expect a job near the finish of you apprenticeship, therefore in the deep end a little bit.

The programme is structured very well, you attend college for 9 months the first year gaining basic knowledge of engineering. When you have finished college it is very slow in the work place, most of the time you will be spent photocopying for the first 7-8 months however the training courses are very useful.

you receive a lot of support from colleagues at work and also those running the apprenticeship, you also have an NVQ instructor who will also look into points which you have made to make your experience a better one.

you receive a lot of support and they always support your values and frustration of you having a lack of work. They have started to notice this now and are stopping sending as much work to India and keeping some back for the apprentices.

You get a good salary one of the best provided by an employer in the country.

You get the odd weekend however there isn't much, you can attend big bang events and other STEM events.
