  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The Apprenticeship is titled as an Engineer at Siemens. Day to day we get involved with various activities, such as work on the shop floor, work in the junior factory (Taking part in different projects for all apprentices to work on) and getting involved in jobs in the offices, thus giving a good insight to different job roles around the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed self confidence skills and the ability to work better as a team to achieve the desired outcome. Through college I have learnt many new theoretical skills that I can hopefully apply into my work at Siemens at a later date.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy getting involved in new events and trying to improve the outcome of projects with what different skills I can bring to the table.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Siemens?
  • Everyone at Siemens is always willing to help and support me in anything that I need doing. Other Employees try their best to include me in tasks and support me along to ensure I get as much out of them as possible.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Most of the time the programme is well structured with no issues, sometimes there is a communication issue and things may take longer than needed to when trying to resolve. Overall I think it is a well structures Apprenticeship.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We keep regular contact with our training providers and ensure we are kept up to date with any training we may need to participate in a task at work. The training provider is always willing to make time if we want training in a specific thing.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer indirectly supports all their apprentices as much as possible, the programme is well set up and all Managers and employers ensure that Apprentices are happy and have no issues. We have regular meetings to discuss any issues we may have and how they can be resolved, praise is also given.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My Salary easily covers the costs such as my car and insurance/living costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Siemens get involved in many outside of work activities, most of which benefit other people, for example, volunteering for the rollercoaster challenge which aims to get schools active at an engineering project. There are other charity events that we can get involved with working with Siemens, to extend out involvement.

  • 9. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it is a well structured programme and all employees are willing to help apprentices succeed in learning as much as possible over the time of working with Siemens


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • To provide New Apprentice intakes with operators numbers on the shop floor, to prevent them needing to use someone else's. I would consider this a planning improvement.
