  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Revenues Assistant for London Borough of Hackney's Council Tax Enforcement team. I deal with residents that have fallen behind on their council tax. usually in the form of reports, also speak to residents on the phone and some face to face

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to analyse a persons account to see if a person has been correctly summonsed to court The most skill that I have improved the most is my letter writing skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the people I work with on a day to day basis, this includes colleagues as well as the management team who are easy to talk to and enjoyable to work for. Sometimes the work gets a bit boring as it can be quite repetitive.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Hackney Council?
  • I feel quite valued as they have always provided any information that may be helpful to me, as well as information that isn't neccessarily helpful but is good to know

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that the program is well organised as we got started with the course quite quickly, as i was working though the course quite quickly the assessor kept up with the pace and kept giving my next piece of work so that I was not waiting around.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I received quite a bit as there was a unit where I wasn't sure what to do and my assessor talked me through it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employers, as my coursework are based on my job. they are keen on the apprenticeship program so have help if i need it. my manager offers the most as she is flexible with my time for the course and she does provide help for units if i need it

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • In terms of salary for an apprentice, i would say the pay is fair, also as i live quite locally to where i work i manage to keep my costs to a minimum

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there have been a few opprtunities outside of work but that is more specific to the actual job that i am doing as opposed to the qualification, some of the jobs do require a IRRV which i am in the process of obtaining

  • 9. Would you recommend Hackney Council to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • i have got into a job that is secure and that will likely keep me on once the apprenticeship finishes, and this is a job that i may not have been able to get into without an apprenticeship


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hackney Council?
  • Take full advantage of the opportunity as it will either help onto a career or at the very least make your CV look alot better for prospective employers
