1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I undertook 6 weeks work experience with BAE systems in the finance department. I was helping with month end and tax and was also involved in some payroll data reporting. It's was a good experience of how a company of that size runs

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Definitely got a really good view of a finance team and learnt some new technology such as payroll software etc. I also learnt how to analyse data correctly

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Really enjoyed the programme and would love the opportunity to work for such a great company. The work experience gave me a great insight into the business

4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?

It was great to be given experience and a real thorough look at the finance team. They gave me real tasks to complete as well as letting me sit and shadow members of staff who were more than willing to help explain things.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

This was a work experience arranged through the HR department and was well organised. there were many areas I wasn't able to go due to security but overall it was well communicated and planned. I was greeted on arrival and given a tour of the building and met the team. I was also given an overview of the building as a whole and saw some really cool developments

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

This was work experience so not really applicable for this experience but I imagine they would be supportive in a longer term experience

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

During the time there they engaged to find out what I wanted to learn and accomodated me during the time there. They also supported my studies by allowing me insight into the software they use so I could use the insight in my assignment

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

Not applicable for work experience but overall people seemed happy and content in their work

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Again this was work experience so hard to say but there was Friday drinks and social events happening whilst I was there and they did try to include me as much as possible. The office seemed really social and a great atmosphere

9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Great company really making strides in innovation and such a broad offering there is something for everyone. I am actively looking for a permanent role with them and would be keen to work there again. from what I have seen salary and benefits are great and the company are really supportive

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?

Be yourself! Be confident! Research as much as possible as its such a big company with many different offerings be sure to know the area you are applying to inside out!
