1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

We were doing the role of a trainee in different sections of the business to get a well rounded view of the firm. We did the basic ground work for cases and researched into what may apply to each case

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My proof reading skills have improved as attention to detail is crucial. I have also improved my note taking skills as we sat in on client meetings and took notes on certain cases and law involved. They have trained me how to use the computer system so I could work effectively. I've improved my organisation and task planning due to the help of the employees and tasks we got set.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have truly enjoyed my time here, the employees have made me feel very welcome and they have included me as if I was one of them. The work has been enjoyable and has allowed me to see what it's like to be a trainee. The social culture within the firm is great and means it's very pleasant and welcoming.

4. How valued do you feel by Pinsent Masons?

I feel quite valued here, although I was only here for a short time, people were very happy with my work and they were always supportive of what I wanted to do so I felt valued as part of the team

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well organised as it set a plan of what we were doing each day and gave us plenty of time to make arrangements to attend. The systems here work well and overall the whole thing is very well structure.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

A huge amount, they allowed me to use the skills they explained in practise on actual cases and meant I could progress, the gave regular feedback and meant I could improve and correct any mistakes.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

The managers had an overview of what was occurring and commented to the trainers on where we were good and some areas for improvement which meant that we could complete the jobs which they wanted us to do.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

It's on voluntary basis so this meant I paid more than what I initially receive but the future salary is very good and could lead to a very good career. They also will follow my progress which could lead to a further job in the future.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Yes, there's socials and many client interactions which you may attend. Towards the end of the week, there was more social interacts. The gym is very close so this means the sports part of me could still active whilst in an office environment, there is also office teams which is important when working here as a full time job

9. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?

9b. Why?

They supported me very well within this experience and they are a good name to support you within law when looking to progress further as they are a reputable company. They have a good ethos and are very welcoming and friendly which is important within a working environment.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?

Be honest within your application but also research what the company wants and their views so you can include them. I would definitely apply as it gives a true representation of what job you may be doing.
