1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
i was working in assurance shadowing a senior associate in one of the audit teams. i interacted with a small team and worked on jobs for a couple national companies. at the end of the day there was an interactive skills based session using an online conference calling programme. i was also tasked with wroting a blog after everyday.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
i have gained many new skills and improved pre existing skills. my communication and teamworking skills have improved massively. i have also gained a new skill of networking which will help me massively in other jobs i have.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
i enjoyed the programme massively. the work was varied with the team i was working with an added bonus. the company and the culture around the office was amazing and made me enjoy the work experience even more. the whole experience really exceeded my expectations
4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
everyone one at the company from the top to the bottom make you feel valued and an integeral part of the team. the trust given by the person you are shadowing is amazing as they let you work on massive national companies.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
the programme overall was quite well structured and you never felt like you didnt know what was happening. apart from the first day which felt longer than it needed to be. the shadowing system was amazing and the programme felt well organised
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
everyone that was involved in the shadowing was really supportive. no question felt stupid to ask and when a question was asked everyone would try there hardest to get the best answer pssible for you.
6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
the PWC student recruitment team is amazing and made the application process and the time leading up to the placement as relaxed as possible as many people can get nervous for things like this. also throughout the placement the recruitment team would make sure you were doing well and would even take time out to read your daily blog.
7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
th salary package is very very genorous for just 5 days work. it easily covered all my costs and left me with alot left over. for the first day which was at one office they reinbursed everyone for travel so your salary pacage wasnt hit by that.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
as its only a one week placement it is almost impossible to get involved with any oppurtunities outside work.
9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend? *
9b. Why? *
overall the programme helped me grow immensely as a person and also helped me develop valuable life skills and experience. if you are just a tiny bit interested in professional services i would definetly reccomend this programe!!!
10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC? *
the application process involves some psychometric tests which test your reading and maths competency. i would advise to find some practice tests on the internet. also there is an interview before the placement which is probaly the most daunting but it is so relaxed so i wouldnt worry about it at all. just visit the pwc website and revise what they look for in a candidate. the actually recruitment process and getting ready for the placement is quite detailed and involves a lot of signing contracts then scanning them back so i would to aware of this so you are not caught out and forget to sign anything. finally i would say ask as many questions as you can and gain loads of valuable contacts
