  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Monday to Thursday we were given various presentations ranging from commercial law to entry to law where we learnt more about the legal world. We would then spend the rest of the day with a paralegal or trainee and do various tasks they set us. This could include some research, making a document or helping them with their work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt the importance of paying attention to detail and team work. When I was doing research that the paralegals or trainees would use, it was paramount that what I found was true to the best of my knowledge.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme. It was nice to see what they do on a daily basis and see that each day can be so different from the day before.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Pinsent Masons?
  • I feel very valued. Taking on work experience students can be very time consuming and other places don't put in half as much effort as Pinsent Masons has into us. It was all very organised and everyone was so willing to help. The best part was being able to contribute to tasks that would actually be used by paralegals or trainees in their work. Being able to contribute definitely made me feel more valued as the work I was doing was making their lives easier.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme was very structured. On the first day we were given a timetable and knew exactly what was happening at each time and who we were with. The majority of the time, our supervisors would pick us up from our meetings in the morning which was very convenient and in the rare circumstance that we got lost, everyone would be more than happy to help us.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • We didn't get paid.

    6/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Some trainees/paralegals took us for lunch but apart from this it was just what was on the programme.
