electrical and instrument technician. maintaining the plant on site. when training is complete we will be in charge of site maintenance and supervising any contractors

we will end up with a level three nvq BTEC and a PEO. i have learnt many new skills within the gas transmition industry

i really enjoy my training programme the people i work with are great and people on site are very helpful to teach me new things. the culture within national grid is great its like we are one big team

i feel very valued by managers, they always tell you how well you are doing, the effort you put in is noticed.

3 week induction, our training programe is a very big one with lots of time studying which is good. the support from mentors and managers is amazing, and the other apprentices are very helpfull aswell

they give you all the support they can, we have been given a chance to complete all courses to the highest grade possible if we want.

we have lots of support from the employer for anything we might need, extra support or help any problem we have they will try and help you as much as they can.

we are on really good wages for apprentices. all travel expenses are generously compensated.

there are endless company events and activities.

it is a very long proceedure to apply so be prepared to go through lots of stages over about a year, the final assessment is 2 days.
