  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Each day was spent in a different department where our supervisor would give us tasks for the day. No two days were the same! My tasks ranged from filing, drafting documents like letters, and research.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed existing skills like how to be polite etc when meeting new people and how to act in a professional environment. My networking skills have definitely developed to meeting lots of new people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed being in the firm and seeing what it was like to work as a solicitor. Everyone was very nice and took an interest in you. It was a lot better that I expected.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Pinsent Masons?
  • Yes, each time I did work my supervisor checked it and gave me praise and improvements.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program was very organized. We had an induction day where we toured the office and met the other work experience people. Each day after that our supervisor collected us from the reception and gave us pre determined tasks (although some supervisors were more prepared than others!)

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Each time I was given a task, I was reminded that I could ask for help any time I needed it. However I found It was difficult to ask some supervisors for help as they were very busy and I felt like a hindrance.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Everyone seemed really nice and ready to help us. Even though some supervisors were harder to approach then others, all did support us in the end.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • We didn't get paid for the program, and travel wasn't reimbursed. Most people on the program, like myself, had to catch the train in hence had travel costs. however the office is like a five minute walk from the office.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Being here this week has shown me the vast amount of opportunities I have in the future here like the vacation scheme or gap year program. People in the office volunteer in various places, however being here only a week we didn't get this chance (which I don't mind anyway)

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It gave me a valuable insight to the world of work and a professional environment. it gave me a great opportunity to ask questions to people who understand and have been through what I have/will be.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • Take time with the online application- there's no interview so that's all they have to go by Make the most out of the time here and ask plenty of questions! Don't be shy, try and act confident(even if you don't feel it!)
