During my time at the firm I was given a real perspective on what being a lawyer was like. The firm was very welcoming and everyone was willing to help with any problems they had. I felt that I was treated as an equal and the lawyers put trust in me to help them with the cases they were working on. Over all this was an amazing experience and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone who wants to experience what its like to be a trainee at a law firm
I have learnt a lot of skills from my time here, I have learnt how to work with others by splitting up a task into manageable sections whilst ensuring I stay on track to complete it. I have learnt a lot more about the role of a commercial law firm and what it does on a daily basis. Most of all I have learnt key skills that will give me a head start when I go on to study law in a few years
I extremely enjoyed it and everyone has treated me as an equal as at no point did I feel like an outsider, everyone welcomed me and everyone was friendly
Pinsent Masons accepted me into the firm and treated me like I was a lawyer and not like a school student on work experience. I felt that when a help on a task that my work was genuinely appreciated and when I gave an opinion or I gave my thoughts it is listened to.
It was extremely well organised and I felt that I was never without work to do. The work was designed for someone of my standard so it was never to difficult.
The trainees help you in every aspect of your day whilst at the same time expecting you to carry on with tasks without them constantly giving guidance. They are extremely busy with their own work and this has only helped me learn how to work on my own and solve my problems
The staff at Pinsent Masons are always there to answer any questions you have (no matter how stupid!) and are generally open to help. When you ask it doesn't seem like a burden. They genuinely want to help.
I was not on a salary as a work experience student
Yes, on my last day I was taken to the local court to look round, and the trainees often invited me out to lunch with the other trainees, and also to attend other out of work activities
Yes
It was an amazing experience for anyone who wants to find out what being a lawyer is like. It is because of this experience that I know being a lawyer is for me.
Manage your time effectively and try to complete your task to the highest standard first time. Always bring a pen and notepad to meeting (especially with the managing partner....)
