Accounts Payable Review

My role was in the accounts payable department. Everyday I would check if receipts were present on expenses reports for corporate card statements. I would also shadow colleagues who would tell me what to do. I would interact with the members of my team and was given responsibility.

I gained experience of doing different accounting jobs during my work experience placement.I learnt how to do TT payments, checking that receipts were present on expenses reports for corporate cards and personal cash payments, helping with telegraphic transfer payments, processing clients cheques, journalling, filing, photocopying, scanning, remittance advice, reconciling and answering customer queries.The tasks helped me to improve my analytical skills and to spot errors in the checking process.

I enjoyed working in a team environment and my work experience placement exceeded my expectations. M&G Investments made you feel very welcomed by all members of staff including even the most senior of managers.

I felt valued by the manager and all the people who worked at M&G investments. My input was valued in all the tasks that I took part in and I was a highly valued individual during the work experience placement.

I received training throughout the programme in different aspects of office life and the jobs that I would be doing if I had a similar role at the company. The programme was organised as I knew what I would be doing and when I would be doing it. There was never a moment during my work experience when I had nothing to do.

Everyone was happy to support me and I received as much support as I wanted. I enjoyed my work experience and would like to come back in the future. I was given guidance with any problems I had.

People who work at the company are willing to answer any questions that I may have. They have also gave me guidance with any problems that I had and to solve them. They helped to support me throughout the work experience placement.

My travel expenses and lunch costs are paid for by my daily allowance of £5. If I was travelling from outside of Chelmsford then I may have needed more money for expenses.

At M&G Investments there are lots of company events and company activities social events such as bowling and cricket. They are also involved in the local community especially at The Boswells College.

The main reason I would recommend M&G to a friend is because of how friendly the people who work their are. They make you feel very welcome and treat you like a human being.

Make sure to get work experience in the financial sector. It is also important that you apply for any work experience opportunities early to give you the best chance of being successful.
