  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a store assistant in Aldi every day is different from working on tills serving customers and handling money to replenishing stock on the shop floor, helping customers with inquires, taking in deliveries and much more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • On my course i have learnt about everything to do with working in the retail industry. within store i have been taught how to handle money and operate a till as well as how to correctly move and store stock. I have been taught how to use various pieces of equipment required to do my job and basic customer service required on a daily basis for customer interaction.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love every day at work and the days spent at college learning new skills every every step of the way. I work with a friendly happy group of colleges that i am proud to say i am part of a team with them, they make every day enjoyable and support me within the workplace and are always happy to assist if i need guidance. I enjoy working for Aldi and being part of a much wider team as a whole as i have gained valuable skills and knowledge and i look forward to progressing my roll within Aldi and the retail industry. My expectations for the roll i applied for were definitely exceeded as the company and course offer so much more than i had thought.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • I feel highly valued by Aldi and feel accepted as a team member. My managers along with my other colleges always thank me for the day of work, completing tasks and helping with all i can. The area manager, delivery staff and any other team members are always friendly and approachable making sure the day is going well and all is running smoothly.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised with structured and planned out days for college and training. My tutor along with my colleges are all supportive and there to help me progress within my apprenticeship. All tasks are set and clearly explained making the course as enjoyable and easy as possible.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive all the help i can get and require with my tutor only an email/phone call away who is always happy to help me with any issues or any guidance i may need. I enjoy college days and my course work because i get to learn something new and prove to my best ability what i have learned and where i apply it on an every day basis.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am given support by my employer regarding my work and training to help me progress with my apprenticeship and within the company. My managers are always there to give me support and any additional guidance and assistance i may need.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I feel compared with other apprenticeships my salary is good as it provides me with more than enough a month to travel back and forth to work as well as carry out my other additional costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Before working and being part of an apprenticeship scheme i was enrolled in college while also looking for a job to help with expenses and gain experience. On the apprenticeship i am able to both gain a qualification and learn new skills as well as experience and be working.

  • Yes

  • Because i feel working at aldi and to be part of the team is a great experience and learning opportunity as although they work you hard they push you to your full potential.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • I would say make sure retail is defiantly the industry for you and just be yourself, it may seem a bit much much to take in at first but youll get there as everyone started out somewhere and we all have to learn. Dont expect to know everything straight away and dont hesitant to ask for help it scary as it seems.
