  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role on my scheme is a pipe fitter. in this role I am tasked to help look after the factory. this can vary from every day plumbing to the welding of mains water pipes. we also work with gas.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have leaned how to be a part of a group, and some new skills in domestic and industrial plumbing. I have attended various college courses which have benefited me well and will aid me to go onto greater things and become more competent in my job

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i really enjoy meeting the new people and taking on new skills and experiences. although it wasn't what I expected at first, i soon realised it was better then expected and is a career for life if i do all training to a good standard.

  • i feel very valued to be working for such a great company. any the people i come into contact with are very interested in my progress and want to help me become be best that i can be

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • with so many people on the apprenticeship it can be hard to keep it fully organised but they managed it well. training was good and have many review to check we are on track

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • any issues we have we can ask our tutor or industrial training manager. they will give good answer and if they dont know they will go out there way to find the best answer.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • the employer is very good and will support us the best they can. any materials we need for training are provided and make sure we have every thing possible to complete our apprenticeship fully qualified with additional courses should we request them.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • at jaguar land rover i was shocked just how good the pay was. apprentice wage minimum is £2.50 however they payed above the minimum adult working wage which has helped me to be comfortable and afford to work and travel to training

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are many things that are sponsored by jaguar land-rover that can be attended. from shows, to events and even going into schools to promote the apprenticeship. also we do a few events to help local comunities

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • jaguar land rover has done so much for me in terms of skills and getting me to be competent in a job. they build great cars and are a well known brand. best of all they pay you to lean your way up from starting with no trade skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • work hard and dedicate your time to revision and work. always take any opportunities and always make sure you give every thing 110%. by working hard and getting as much skills as you can will only help to secure your position and future positions in the company
