My role has evolved a lot since the start of my apprenticeship. I now work in the central media team within the ad tech and media data space, working within advertising platforms to set up advertising technology and work with media data to better target audiences effectively. I own social media accounts and work alongside brands to inform them on best practices and compliance to ensure advertising is secure.
The apprenticeship has forced me out of my comfort zone, learning how to work with multiple stakeholders and improving both leadaership and teamwork skills. I have discovered topics I didn't know existed prior to my apprenticship. I have improved my confidence by presenting and leading meetings as well as improving skills in troubleshooting and problem solving.
The programme is hard work, balancing both university and work is hard yet rewarding. Working for a big company like L'Oreal is demanding but a great way to meet new people, expand knowledge, gain both specialised and generalised knowledge in all things marketing, media and digital excellence. It is hard work to navigate your career in a large corporation.
Organisation at L'Oreal is situational, it is mostly organised and well structured with clearly defined roles. However, as it is so large it is hard to know who the right person is to go to for certain issues/topics but also being so large is is hard to be organised 100% of the time. Mostly, it is well structured and organised because it needs to be as such a large organisation.
We have frequent 121 meetings with line managers to offer support and quaterly reviews to discuss targets and areas for improvement. Early careers is always there to answer any questions we have on next steps and career building, however, I've found there has been little support when it comes to processes in progressing career terms.
This is situational as it depends on the lecturer teaching each module, we have had to push for support but often you have to ask for support rather than recieving immediately.
The specific modules in my degree don't directly relate to my role however the skills I have learnt from balancing studies with work are valuable. I have improved organisation skills and time keeping otherwise will fall behind.
There are a lot of social events at work and opportunities to get involved in through next gen committee.
