My role involves getting a confident understanding of all the categories that make up Data Management e.g. Data Cataloguing, Data Quality and Data Governance, develop an understanding about the systems in which our data works with, meeting up with my qualification expectations and maintaining hands-on experience.
I have learnt a variety of new skills. Firstly I have been able to develop my softer skills specifically in regards to my communication. I am able to communicate with others confidently in a collaborative and personal setting. I have also been able to develop my existing skills in Excel.
I enjoy my programme as I work closely with my team: I engage in a variety of group discussions, I have mentors and buddies who help guide me through the program and provide me with any help I need. I also enjoy participating in group projects; I feel really engaged.
My programme is very structured. I am aware of the days in which I will coming in and working from home. As well as this, I have a dedicated study day where I can work towards my qualification. My learning sessions are recorded to ensure repeated access to sessions also.
I receive a lot of support from my employer in many forms. For instance, my manager and support buddies who provide me with all the support I need. My employer offers a Data Protection Office and designated email address for any privacy inquiries I may have which also supports me.
I receive a lot of support. I get monthly calls from my coach, where we discuss about my project assignments and any support that I may need going forward. BPP offers many means of contact, to offer support towards my qualification as well as any queries I may have.
My qualification helps me perform greatly in my role as a Data Management Apprentice. Through my BPP learning sessions, I have been able to develop skills on Excel for instance through being taught pivot tables, conditional formatting and different lookups. I have been able to apply these skills at work.
At my workplace, we are partnered with Investment 20|20, I have been able to engage in a range of networking events where I have spoken and interacted with apprentices like myself as well as senior professionals. This has really developed my communication skills through the interactions I have had.

The culture at M&G is a huge highlight for me and is a reason why I would recommend the company. From the values of care and integrity to the networks that the company has to promote diversity and inclusion, any one who visits will experience a friendly environment.
I would advise that individuals should take the most of all the opportunities that the company offers. There are a variety of networks that individuals could join and make a positive impact around them. As an apprentice I would advise taking the most of the learning resources, to build skills.
