  • I’ve developed a stronger understanding of commercial banking and client relationship management. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme offers a unique blend of real world banking experience and structured learning. I’ve especially appreciated having exposure to clients at such an early stage and having the opportunity to gain insight into how commercial banking supports institutional clients. The learning curve is steep at times in terms of understanding the entire financial process but it’s rewarding to see my skills/confidence grow as I take on more responsibility.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is reasonably structured but there’s definitely room for improvement. Whilst there’s definitely a general structure in mind, it can feel a little disjointed at times especially when it comes to linking learning content with day to day responsibilities. That said I’ve still found value in the experience by being proactive and seeking learning opportunities in my own way.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my employer. My team is always approachable and willing to help when I have any questions at all. There are definitely lots of people I can turn to when I need guidance. Sometimes it can feel a little daunting to seek out support when juggling work and apprentice commitments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support I receive is generally helpful, especially when it comes to scheduled check ins and assignment guidance. Sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming to have so much being needed for the assignment and juggling my daily workload. I’ve found that I get the most out of it when I’m proactive in asking for clarification or feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me perform better in my role to some extent. It gives useful context around banking principles and regulatory knowledge, which helps me understand the bigger picture behind my daily tasks. However, not all of the content feels directly relevant to my specific role, so I’ve found it’s been important to ensure my hands on experience and proactivity is up to par to make the learning stick.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are apprentice meets, networking events and social activities within our own teams.
