  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Generalist HR; administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, managing attendance records. Reporting to higher management on people metrics. Implementing policies and procedures, compliance with labor laws. Supporting managers with ER cases, coaching managers on new processes/policies. Right to work checks. Engagement activities and promoting employee benefits.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Employment law knowledge. Theory and practices in employee engagement and motivation. I have developed a stronger consulting partnership with the Operations managers. I am now analyzing data and using the results to inform decisions and putting actions into place for improvements in people practices. Using CPD and PDP logs has maintained by continual learning practices.

  • It has been hard at times but I enjoy learning and it has elevated my working practices and knowledge

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very! There are regular meetings with other students and also 1-2-1 with tutor. The platform used for learning is good and easy to navigate.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is included at the start of the 1-2-1s with the tutor and so is aware of my progress. I have regular meetings with my manager where we discuss my apprenticeship and they were able to give me exposure to work areas which benefited my apprenticeship

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of support. We had regular meetings and they explained anything I was unsure of. I was able to email them between our meetings for assistance also.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has elevated the way in which I work. I am doing my HR Assistant tasks but also looking ahead to how I can make improvements.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are different engagement activities as my workplace. There are also affinity groups too which hold virtual meetings, connecting employees worldwide.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There is investment in career development. Being so large it has many opportunities one can move into. The benefits and compensation are above average.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon?
  • Amazon has a specific way of interviewing. Make sure you know how to answer in the STAR format, including data where possible. Also get to know the Amazon Leadership Principles, there is lots of information on line and on the About Amazon website.
