My main role in the Quarry is a Loader Shovel Driver , loading wagons dumpers and crushers and sorting out different crushed materials to designated stock piles , also maintaining the stock yard keeping all the area clean.
I have developed more overall knowledge of Tarmac and all of the things Tarmac do as well as just quarry stone. My understanding on health and safety , sustainability and environmental impacts has grown alot more aswell
Really enjoyed the programme all the trainers were brilliant and my fellow apprentices were also great all working together to finish the same goals.
Really well structured was never rushed and if I didn't understand any part of it the trainers were very patient and understanding , really helpful
I was able to get a hire car and hotel for each visit which saved alot of mileage and use on my vehicle and my managers helped me when I was unsure on any coursework
Really supportive I still ring my training manager now for advice of certain things im working towards and he is still helping me to date .
I feel alot more confident in certain procedures for example LOTOTO and HIRA . After finishing P.O.D.P I am now working on becoming an 8-1-D (supervisor).
not within tarmac I don't believe no
Yes
If you are willing to put the time and effort in to show willingness then there will always be the chance to get more training and possibly climb the ladder within the business. Very health and safety conscious so its a safe environment for people to work in. Can be a job for life .
Get on to P.O.D.P as soon as you can so you can cover all the basic area of your job role .
