I work in a small team planning and facilitating the resurfacing of the counties highways.
Yes, I'm developing my skills around people and project management. Clear communications and attention to detail are essential in my role,
Very much so. Learning something new everyday and being able involved in large scale projects
The apprenticeship provided by Balfour Beatty is really well organised and the support offered is great. The course provided by the learning provider is underwhelming and has fallen well short of my expectations.
Plenty.
They are understanding of my constraints and commitments but overall the service they provide and the level of teaching has been disappointing.
There are certain elements that have been relevant to my role but the course as a whole seems to be more orientated towards the construction of properties or buildings, rather than roads.
There are a couple of events organised such as a 'summer social' and I have been invited to several networking and team-building events within the early careers programme.
Yes
The company provides excellent opportunities and training to establish oneself in the industry and develop personal and professional skills.
Embrace it as best you can and be confident enough to ask the 'stupid' questions. Take the training and opportunities on board as they come and try to enjoy the experience as you progress.
