Work as a Field Service Engineer consists of testing, commissioning and maintaining Building Management Systems that have been previously installed by our projects team. This includes , testing valves, motors and Air Handling Units, Boilers and Chiller systems on a site.
I have learn all of the skills needed to complete the job during my apprenticeship. I came into the company with little knowledge of these systems and now have developed the skills to be a competent field service engineer.
I enjoyed my programme as I had the opportunity to move out at 19 and travel down into London and East Anglia to work on new sites. I currently enjoy my field services role and appreciate the people that I work with.
The program was structured to an extent yet was disrupted by the pandemic. The company helped us work around new changed within our scheme and the end result was still achieved.
I receive huge amounts of support from my employer. They have helped me with stress levels during exam season and have always worked around my struggles with Math topics at University as well as helping make sure I am comfortable on sites that I am working on.
Huge amounts of support allowing us to take study leave before exam season and will always have work arounds when extra help is needed with specific university topics.
I feel that my qualifications were maybe too advances for the level of work performed in work. Some of the mathematics modules were very high level and this is not required in my job role. This will benefit me in the future.
In my role in the North West, there is no social events but we are able to volunteer a few times a year to do charity events etc.
Yes
