  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role requires me to travel to different customer sites to deliver services. This can include repairing electrical units, carrying out preventive maintenance and commissioning new systems. This role demands good knowledge of power tools, equipment, and IT skills. Common day-to-day activities involves communicating with customers and site project managers of the tasks to be completed and what the best operational delivery practices would be for that job. Currently, I am working as a cooling field service representative and so I spend a great deal of time in data centers and buildings with data servers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • By going onsite with other engineers, I have become more confident in using power tools and gained more knowledge as to how to efficiently use them to prevent damages to systems. I have also developed new skills such as: using software to carry out firmware updates on systems and how to carry out maintenance on cooling units. I have also developed personal skills such as communication and teamworking as this is a big part of our job role.
