  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have worked independently on the majority of the tasks I have undertaken. I have had to arrange meetings with members of staff I need information from, and used the skills of Understanding Others and Communication positively in order to obtain what i require.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I fully enjoy my programme. The way the scheme is planned allows me to see the whole of the Finance Function and see how each part of the function links in with one other. The scheme also allows exposure to other functions and stakeholders, which offers a great oppotunity to develop networks with individuals outside of Finance

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I feel extermely valued. Throughout every placement I have been treated like a full time member of staff, rather than a junior member of the team. This has allowed me to get the most out of the placements.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Support is provided by college and is always available inside and outside of lessons. Tutors always provide their e-mail addresses and contact number for any queries outside of class time.

    6/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There are always opportunities available from the early careers department. However, because my scheme is 5-years long (2 years longer than most other schemes), I often feel that I am forgotten about when certain opportunities/communications arise.

    5/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I believe I am on a very competative salary. Currently my salary covers my costs and allows me to have disposable income available. Also, the cost of studying is covered by my employer.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Stretch assignments and Community activities are both available outside of work and I have been involved in both of these areas. Also, the social community between members of the Higher Apprentice scheme is very strong outside of work.

    9/10

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • BAE Systems gives Higher Apprentices a great opportunity to earn while you learn, giving you the chance to game important skills through day-to-day work, as well as qualifications through college. In addition, all of this is available while earning a very competative salary.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Although having the relevant qualifications is important, there are more skills required to be successful. Competencies such as Self Confidence, Initiative and Teamwork are all key to being successful working at BAE Systems.
