1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice I help technicians carry out their scheduled work with them training me and coaching me to carry out the tasks correctly and safely according to the work specification.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed better hand skills aswell as a better knowledge of plant systems. I feel I have become more confident with people and the work I am carrying out.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning about the power station, the systems and how they affect the plants' function. It is good to work with experienced technicians who have a good understanding of how the plant works.

4. How valued do you feel by EDF Energy?

I feel that I am well looked after by the company ans that if I have any issues there are people I can go to. People are helpful and want you to do well and assist yuou in doing so.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The first two years of the course could be better organised academically to be of a greater benefit to learners. I was dissapointed with the training and feel I did not know enough about my trade on returning to site.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

In the first two years I feel that the support could have been better if EDF and Babcock worked more closely together as I feel communication was not good between them which affected our training. Changes were made slowly to improve certain courses but I think more could have been done academically. Life skills support was good.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel that I am well supported by the company we have team leaders and a co-orinator to take care of our training, progress and well being at work. If we have any issues we can speak about them.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

We get paid well and I feel that it is a privilege while we are still training. I travel quite far to work and it is still affordable for me to get to work, run a car etc.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

Yes there are many opportunities to take part in such as charity work, sporting events, christmas parties etc. There are many training opportunities which you can put yourself forward to do.

9. Would you recommend EDF Energy to a friend?

9b. Why?

It is a well reputable company which offers good training opportunities, good career opportunities and a good wage. There are many opportunities to develop and progress within the company.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF Energy?

I would ensure that you have an idea of what you want to achieve out of your career. It is important to embrace every opportunity given to you, dont waste any opportunity to stand out or achieve.
