  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I produce and bring together different types of evidence for clients to help them achieve their targeted BREEAM/WELL certifications. I also carry out Life Cycle Assessments that help clients become aware of their carbon footprint and ways in which they could reduce it by for example suggesting alternative materials they could use.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my task and time management skills which helped me carry out tasks more effectively and in an organised manner on a daily basis, even outside of work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really been enjoying the program as I have been able to make new friends and learn a range of skills. Everyday there is something new to do or learn so it never gets boring.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think that the program is quite well structured with dedicated time to contribute to university work every month as well as sufficient amount of workload given in a week to keep you engaged but also to not be overwhelming.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have my line manager to go to with any general questions or my team if I need help with a specific task or something they specialise in. Additionally I have a mentor to talk to with any worries that I have about work or outside of work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The lecturers can be easily contacted through email/teams regarding any questions about the material. There is also a skills coach that is available to help with any questions regarding the apprenticeship itself.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Most of the topics discussed in lectures are not directly relevant to my work at the moment as I am only in my first year and the focus is on more general topics. However the some assignments such as the ones based on teamwork or report writing can translate into useful soft skills that are useful in a work environment.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many activities you can get involved in throughout the month such as CPDs to help develop your knowledge of the industry, social events, charity events, fitness challenges etc.
