Supply Chain Business Apprentice Review

The Supply chain apprenticeship involves a programme of different placements with in various teams, and also on a nuclear power station. The role can include placing contracts for labour and spares to be used on station, writing documents and procedures, and placing orders for stock and non stock items.

developed existing skills such as talking on the phone and constructing emails, also develop interpersonal skills by having to interact with numerous personel from different teams or contractors. Learnt new skills in terms of work management and prioritising workload accordingly

I really enjoy the programme, EDF give responsiblilty and trust to apprentices to allow us to get on with work and be accountible for actions, also they offer great opportunities in terms of training, qualifications and travel.

Very values, EDF see apprentices as a useful tool that can add something to the placements in barnwood and also can be deployed around then nuclear power stations to offer support.

The programme is well structured, a plan is constructed when you first join the company to show which placements you will be doing and when, also the company aligns you with a buddy ( previous apprentices ) a mentor ( supply chain employee ) and a sponsoring manager ( supply chain manager ) which all help along your apprenticeship and can make the neccessary changes

Gloucester college provide a good level of support, they make sure you keep through you course with in the time frame, and can change units to suit what work your currently doing.

a good amount of support in terms with in the workplace, line managers of the placements have offered support in terms of sharing knowledge and experiences, however they dont offer lots of support with college work

The salary meets what you would expect having only just finished A levels, and increases once you have had your first year appraisal to show your worthy of a pay rise. Im never struggling for money, in which case the salary is good for me

EDF has pages on its intranet and also site specific pages which advertise opportunities outside of work. you can pick up external training courses that may not be EDF specific, and also the opportunity to travel, for example i have been lucky enough to travel to paris for a managers conference

they are a great company to be involved with in the long term, although jobs are not guaranteed following the apprenticeship, if you are to get a place, then there is a chance for a long term progressive career.

If you enter the company with a genuine interest and are open to learn from others, you'll enjoy the work more.
