Currently, I'm on my third 4 month placement. Here I assemble and test eletrical components for use on either the Tornado, Hawk or Typhoon. Also I assemble some comonenets for th emaintainence of these aircraft.
In the first year we were taught hand fitting techniques and eletrical skills. The eletrical skills have been very useful for the department i'm in where i furthered these shills and now work more accruately than in training, this is because these components are then being sold to the customer.
I love coming to work, i've never not wanted to come in to work. It is very interesting here and i'm eager to explore the many different areas here at BAE Systems. The apprenticeship allows you to discover many sections and gain a great knowledge of the business.
Very! The team I work with are very hard working and always notice people who contribute, I feel like I have contributed and the team value the work that i have done.
It is very well structured, we have been given training plans from day one and everything has been followed to the day. The best part of the structure is you can taylor the program to do what you are interested in, when we rotate sections apprentices can express and interest in a certain department and ev en orgainise their own placements.
A lot, the training school are always checking up on use and give any support required, they are a friendly bunch and are more than willing to help.
BAE SYSTEMS support eacha nd every one of their employees, there are various provisions to help with any problems a worker may encounter. They even have a on site medical centre.
My salary increases each year with the apprenticeship. It is more than enough to live comfortabiliy during training and has enables apprentices to move out from home and get a method of transport as well.
There are various work related opportunities to complete out side of work, for example i'm part of the BAE flying cluba and have been learning to fly at a subsidised rate.
Yes
It is an excellent place to work and a better place to develop a person. They provide many opportunities for personal development and it is a very interersting business.
Try your hardest to get on to the apprenticship and you will not be dissapointed it is worth all your effort and the reward is far more than you could think of.
