  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a techinical engineering apprentice and currently in a testing placement where I am working on test rigs to see how they simulate aircraft conditions to under take testing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills and have matured grately since starting the apprenticship.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the apprenticeship programme as a whole there are parts of the apprenticeship where they aren't as enjoyable but you get as much out of it as you put into it and I try to put my all into it to better for future career roles.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • BAE Systems is a fantastic company to work and they have been great at supporting me throughout my apprenticeship with both my work life and my home life.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme struture of the apprenticeship itself in my eyes needs some alterations and the struture needs to be made clear to all parties that will be involved with the apprenticeship programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I see my training assessor every month or so and he supports me with any problems I have with completing my NVQ and any problems I have within my placement.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I would say that when support is needed it is their, sometimes things do get forgotten and you have to chase things up but the end result is usually posotive.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the salary is a fair salary for us apprentices while we are training. I think the travel allowance should be slightly more with the rising cost of fuel etc.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I volunteer as and where I can to help outside of my placement and enjoy getting involved in the extra activites that BAE Systems have to offer.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • You get great training from the compnay and a stable career with a decent wage at the end of the apprenticeship. Don't think you can ask for much more.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Sell yourself and don't be afraid to brag about your achievements. Be willing to learn new things, and show willing to be involved.
