Spotlight on Unilever during COVID-19

Alt Text!

The coronavirus has put a stop to a lot of things. School. Seeing pals. The entire festival season. BU it hasn’t put a stop to apprenticeships. So at least you can crack on with your career.

We’ve reached out to a few of the companies we work with to find out how they’ve adapted their hiring process during the pandemic.

Starting with Unilever…

What does Unilever do?

Did you know that the likes of Magnum, Lipton and Dove are all Unilever brands?

A whopping 2.5 billion people use products made by Unilever EVERY day. Products that range from shampoo to low-calorie ice cream.

In fact, you’ll find at least one Unilever product in seven out of 10 households on the planet. They’re also on a mission to half their environmental footprint. Watch this video to find out how they are championing this…

“We’re committed to helping people from all walks of life find their purpose and harness their potential, whilst working with some of the biggest brands in the world. One of the key initiatives that enables us to do this is our apprenticeship programme.”

Supply Chain & Engineering

Learn how products are manufactured and delivered to consumers. So you’ll find Unilever apprentices doing anything from designing packaging to optimising the website for mobile.

Unilever’s response to the coronavirus

When the coronavirus first broke out in the UK, almost everything came to a standstill. Including Unilever’s apprentice recruitment – because their Discovery Centres (AKA assessment centres) usually take place in the office.

However, they’ve been busy moving these centres online. And they are now hiring again! (Hurrah!)

“We’re still incredibly committed to bringing new apprentices into the business in 2020 and so over the last month, the team have been working hard to build a ‘Virtual Discovery Centre’ to enable us to virtually recruit over 80 new apprentices to start in September.

This means that candidates will now be able to join a ‘Virtual Discovery Centre’ from the comfort of their own homes, using Microsoft Teams, where they will be able to interact with the Unilever team as well as other candidates throughout the day.

We’re still open for applications for some of our apprenticeship programmes including Business Administration, Food Science, Packaging and Data Science. At a time of such uncertainty, apply for a Unilever apprenticeship for 2020 and fire up your future career.
